      Day 24 I think at 8:00 amI am starting this day at the Netezon Wascenter - the local laundromat. It took some time to figure out how to operate the wasmachine, because was the most recognizable word on the direction chart! Help!!       This is it, trip finally past the start line. Started in traditional fashion with a hangover & a Fat Boys breakfast. Not a lot to say about the ride down to Folkstone to catch the 11.50 train apart from I made it on time so no hanging around required. Checked in and straight onto the train, crossing as smooth as normal.
      Left Calais with 120 miles to do to Brussels, turned motorways off on the Satnav so ETA 3 hours, that gave me the first ...

      ... was a series of fountains in the shape of fish. No idea what that was about.

      I thought I was also drive to Lier which is a smaller town but it took me ages to get even near it as the queues of traffic were crazy. No idea what was going on but the traffic was worse than Brussels. In the end I got fed up and decided to go straight to my B&B as I was tired and fed up at this point. My love for Belgium had really waned....

      ... like a good idea.McDonald's was also needed, for the free WiFi primarily, but also getting to speak in terribly broken Belgian...ish (Belsh as we have callen it) when the woman behind the counter spoke fluent English.
      All this meant that by the time we got to Brugges the thing we had been going to see (Madonna! By Michelangelo, not the spandex-clad OAP) had been closed off.

Though, the European faces are so beautiful olive skin, brown eyes, happy young people who seem to want to talk to each other instead of hibernating into technology.  In 2 hours I will be in Portugal...
