    ... gardens a lot of the way. We moored just past Sandiacre on the Monday and just past Cotmanhay on Tuesday. Arrived at the end of navigation, Langley Lock in Eastwood, and moored on the visitor mooring in the basin. The manager of the basin came and introduced himself and seemed a very friendly, helpful person. We plan to stay overnight and make our way back down the Erewash tomorrow.

    2 more sleeps in my own bed then, before I start having to share with one of The Chuckle Brothers. Must remember to pack my Chastity Belt!

    Anyway, off we set with me feeling full of the joys of spring (or even summer). The first lock we got to had one of its gates open - possibly blown open by the wind. It means extra work for the lock worker but no worries. The next lock we came to also had a gate left open and I realised that we were following a boater who doesn't close the gates ...

    ... display as well as a bible from 700AD. One piece from the hoard is a gold seahorse about 4cm in length. The intricate detailing on the piece is amazing. It has tiny spirals down its length, each measuring 2 or 3mm in length. It's hard to believe that they could do such fine work with such limited tools and certainly without any magnification!

    ... eyed inquisitive 11 month old desperate to play with everything in her toy box. An afternoon of watching sport (6 nations and twenty 20 cricket) in their lounge, with the obligatory delicious cake (pudding - sorry Andy), it almost felt like we hadn't been away.
