... gardens a lot of the way. We moored just past Sandiacre on the Monday and just past Cotmanhay on Tuesday. Arrived at the end of navigation, Langley Lock in Eastwood, and moored on the visitor mooring in the basin. The manager of the basin came and introduced himself and seemed a very friendly, helpful person. We plan to stay overnight and make our way back down the Erewash tomorrow.

It has tiny spirals down its length, each measuring 2 or 3mm in length. It's hard to believe that they could do such fine work with such limited tools and certainly without any magnification!
