We drove down from Berlin to Warsaw. IT WAS ****! Rock hard beds that suck BIG ONE'S! Oh and if you want to stand on the balcony and see the view FOR GET ABOUT THAT 'COS THE RAILING'S COMING OFF!!! Anyway so when we got to Krakow we went to the center of town and had a great dinner that had been in the Michelin guide 2008 and 2009. The Michelin guide is a guide ( obviously ) to all the top restaurant's around the world. I got a new pair of shoes there as well. The next day we went to Auschwit...
Krakow, Southern Poland, Poland benbauchetGot up a 7 as we need to be ready to catch the tour bus by 830am. After going around all of Krakow hotels we ended up about 500m from our starting point to change bus direction Auschwitz. We were finally on the way by 1030ama and the bus took us there by 1130. Well here we are, not much to say there as a picture is worth a thousand words. We then took the bus back to Birkeneau for a quick tour, then back to the hotel. We hoped in the car ... back to the town centre for diner. Now way I am get...

Krakow, Southern Poland, Poland ruccobearAfter Jasna Gora, we arrived at BIRKENAU, (Auschwitz 2) and only had 20 minutes to walk around. A watch tower and the railroad tracks that the prisoners arrived on were the first things that came into sight. Upon entering, barbed wire fences separated the area in 2 sections and were on either side of the tracks. The prisoner's barracks were to the right of the tracks. Signs tell the history and explain the set-up of the camp near the barracks. This was the part we saw. Everyone was pretty qui...
Auschwitz, Poland travelinkerryIt's said to be Poland's most beautiful city and may have to agree. It started with meeting our local guide, a young blond who always seemed to be smiling. She took us to the Jewish quarter, KAZIMIERZ to which we saw an area where a scene from Schindler's List was filmed. This part also had a memorial to the Jewish from WW II, a synagogue and the birthplace of Helena Rubinstein, one of the richest women in the world. Walking the hill to Wawel Castle, an ivy covered area came into view. I was ...

... the bike tour, we went back and relaxed at the hostel before heading back into town for a bite to eat. We stopped at a Georgian restaurant(Georgia is near the middle east....I think?) and had a good cheap meal of chicken covered in Georgian cheese and Georgian spices, whatever that means. We decided to call it an early night with a movie at the hostel knowing that the next day we were going to be busy. We woke the next morning and headed to a sobering ...
Krakow, Poland ericrg... up at 9am I wasn't missing anything. Although Brad was surprised when I crawled out of my tent - he (and everyone else) had thought I had gotten up early and already gone into town. Just because on drive days I'm up early and have my tent down (by myself) before everyone else (sometimes a few people beat me but I'm never last, I won't have people waiting for me) Brad thought I LIKED getting up early - HA! Everyone else had left at about 8.45 and taken the tram into ...
Krakow, Poland tokyo_cate... reads 'Work Sets You Free' with big grins and also outside of the gas chambers. The main cabin is number 21 as that was the main torture and death cabin and once we saw the huge queue decided that this really wasn't the place to be during the busy summer months as it's a bit like a circus. I would love to go back and look properly but before that i think i would like to know a bit more and go in the winter when the tourist (yes i know i am one too) crowds aren't so mental. After ...
