We took an early morning ferry from Calais to Dover and cycled the 38km to Canterbury along nice country lanes arriving just before midday. The plan was to finish officially at the Cathedral but they wanted to charge us £10 / head! Fortunately we were able to blag our way in for free, by convincing them we were pilgrims (a likely story!).

It is another wet and foggy morning. We are not having much luck with the weather.
We decided to make the most of it and take a bus to Margate. We were really disappointed to see how Margate is struggling. Lots of shops are closed down as there is a huge out of town shopping centre, much larger that we have seen before and at least 4 times the size ...
