Airports and aeroplanes
... to the challenge of eating soup with chop sticks on the plane. (Yes, it is possible!) I couldn't use chop sticks yesterday but with an empty belly and lack of choice i can be a fast learner! I'm gonna see if I can put my new found skills to work and ask a stewardess for some noodles. Wonder if I can seat surf in the dark back to my chair without spilling? :-) the sun's just starting to come up outside and it's beautiful watching it from above the ...
Day 9
... around Meadowhall - again. After my fairly unsuccessful outing on Friday, I decide to give it another try. I hate shopping at the best of times, and late-night shopping until 11 pm a couple of weeks before Christmas is not my idea of fun. The only bright spot of the entire evening is a brass band (maybe a former colliery band?) playing Christmas carols. Don't even like Christmas but they still manage to bring a lump to my throat.

Days 7 and 8
... We try to get in to have a look at the paternoster lift but the building is closed for the weekend. Instead, we crash the Student Union, which is considerably tarted up, especially the union bar, still known as Bar One. I'm glad that they're putting money into the old place but does it have to be so yuppified? I suppose this is all part of the transformation of Sheffield from steel city to knowledge city that's been going on ...
A few pints before we leave!
