... from Belgium, not from France, as many think), an Asterix (that IS french) and a french version of Stephen King's "The Shining" (one of my favorites). Speaking of Tintin, we also visited the Belgian Comic Museum which was quite interesting and a lot of fun, seeing the history of this very important Belgian industry.
Then, for a special treat, I was able to go with Nadine to see a play for free! Since she ...
... also impressed with the poop bag that trailed the horse and spent the rest of the day talking about getting one someday for his horse and carriage business. We also went for a boat ride in the canals and had our big visit to the chocolate museum. Any tour that starts off and ends with chocolate was a hit in the boys minds! We finished the day with a short drive to the coast in the city of Oostende. Here ...
Mechelen, Antwerpen, Belgium patry... too late to go ahead with plans of mountain biking or kayaking, so we settled for rock climbing at a nearby public recreation center. Louvain-la-Neuve has a strange feel about it, like it was originally built in an almost resort style, with many similarly nice looking, utilitarian homes but has some how degraded with much graffiti (there's actually tons of it everywhere we've been so far) and litter. This recreation center ...
Louvain-la-Neuve, Brabant Wallon, Belgium treeoche... sitting next to me was someone which was probably very well off. It was not so much the shoes, although that was my first clue, but seems his young brown nosing assistance was on the aisle seat next to him. Man, I have not seen anyone kiss so much ass in such a short period of time ! LOLOLOL The young assistance was like"oh let me help you with that newspaper" " let me get you coffee" " let me take your trash" " would you like some water sir ? " Please just shut up already ...
"It's an Indian holiday, miss". We waren daar niet de enigen. Benieuwd of die ene gast die morgen om 9u aan de check-in moet zijn, ooit ...

Brussels, Belgium fredjade... global health (which I will also post as soon as it's completed). In between everything, I'm attending Parliamentary info days, various conferences, and planning for EHMA's own conference-Shaping the Future for Community Action on Health Services-to be held on the 30th of March. Needless to say, there is always something interesting going on here. So that does it for this update. Hope you enjoyed the ride. I miss you all and sincerely hope things have been well back home. See you soon!
Brussels, Belgium zero_charismaI was going to travel along with Jan, a uni friend of my mother's who often works in New York. And Jan's two children: Marie (17 at the time) and Antoine (15 at the time). I was 19. Although I had gone to Russia the same year, NY had this extra appeal. I had been planning the trip for 3 months, wanting to make sure I didn't miss a thing =) Travelling to New York was already an adventure on it's own. We left early in the morning to get our train, the Thalys, in the ...
Brussels, Belgium eldarwen... managed to have expectations for a ******* child, but here I am. The statue may have been a foot tall and ****** a very thin stream of water into a gigantic water basin. Manken Pis wins best tourist trap in history placing the "World's Largest Ball of Twine" in a distant second. With our hopes crushed and stomachs empty, we saw many beautiful plazas and markets until we took a break to eat. Waffles, Fries, Chocolates... Falafel? After the ...
Brussels, Belgium bdprice... expect to see anywhere from Morocco to Turkey to Afghanistan, from rugs to hookahs to Qu’rans. Next day I’ve still got to kill time until my night ride, so take a day trip out to Bruges on the recommendation of a friend. It has the distinction of being intact after WWII, so plenty of nice architecture, but nothing you couldn’t see somewhere else
