Three cheers for sunshine!!!! So we show up Tuesday evening with enough time to admire our amazing hotel with adorable baloneys and hit the town. We walked around a bit and went for dinner and to buy some bottles of wine. We had a little gathering on our baloneys. It was so nice to be able to be outside with out a coat or an umbrella. Wednesday we got up early and had a breakfast that kicks even Holiday Inn Express' Ass! The site of the day is Alhambra. It's a Granada must see. This is a roya...

... cross between a wok and a Caribbean metal drum. He also did Mongolian throat singing which complimented the haunting but funky sound of the odd instrument. I took down his myspace but I have not check if I got it right yet… www.myspace.com/barnakustica I hope it is right because I am keen to buy his album.
Finally, no visit to Barcelona would be complete without seeing Gaudi’s ...
... and I´m having to wear jumpers and jeans. Tiled floor is freezing in the mornings! My room has a tv and I´ve been trying to practice my spanish by watching spanish tv and films in spanish (you can borrow them from the school). There´s also an intercambio (language exchange) on tuesday at some bar apparently, so might try and see what that´s like if I have time.
School is pretty good, we´ve been learning loads. Basically, we have ...
... main dish ourselves, but they hosted it in a resturant where the kitchen was being used to cook the patrons dinners, so we could only watch the lady. She was incredibly funny, but very hard to understand as she had a thick spanish accent and we were sitting too far away to be able to take notes. But the dish that we made is called Paella, a rice dish cooked in a pan almost like risotto, with seafood and vegies, and the special ingredient - saffron - which is worth more in ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands lovin_apples... a spac about something and their trains are off for a few days. Sorry. I was shocked...the bloody ticket set me back €148.00 which is not a cheap ride...so I was lost. So, after breathing and telling myself it would be okay, I legged it the 20-minute walk with my stupid pack over to Barcelona Nord where I bought a €94.00 17.5-hour bus ticket leaving this afternoon to Milan. Oh joy, I hear you say!! I'm already sleep deprived, never sleep on buses ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands natsully... started his artistic career in Barcelona, he grew up in Barcelona and gave his collection to the museum. The museum collects some fabulous art work. From early works, engravings, lithographs, pottery to the Las Meninas sieries and portraits of his wives. There are also regular temporary exhibitions which focus on the different aspects of the activitities of Picasso. This museum is the most famous museum in Barcelona and attracts a lot of tourists ...
Barcelona, Spain karen_bcn... like a Faberge egg. This is the Adidas store. It has New York beat, hands down. This is one of the buildings on the Port. Is this little boy imaging he is riding on Aslan through Narnia? A telling mix of modernism in the foreground and deep history in the background. A couple more pictures of the architecture. . . . We took the exciting hygienic and culinary purchases back to ...
Barcelona, Spain matt.lawrence... the longest bench in the world (I´d been here before, but didn´t realize that), it has such a beautiful view of the city. We went out to a gigantic Barcelona Club called La Terrrazza (yes, that many r´s) and danced in the upstairs room to decent techno although downstairs was weird rock stuff. Getting run down from all the tourism, Lance and I are ready for the big end in Ibiza. We´re going there for the ´´culture´´, right?
Barcelona, Spain ltalsky... Ah! So I saw the big stadium, pool, crazy needle like structure, the torch, etc. Lovely place and views over the whole city. Everything felt like you were in giant land. I guess it´s justified though when you think of the scale of the Olympics and the vast number of people that need to be accomodated for. It was an interesting feeling walking around the place though. Not historic, but exciting. This is where the magic happened. You know that excitement you feel ...
