Sorry, I have been in wifi free zones on thursday and friday of this week.

I traveled from West Branch, Iowa to Abilene Kansas through some seriously plain geography. I passed two national historic places. The first was near Topeka Kansas, that being the Brown vs. Board of Education museum. The second was a some sort of General Custer Park, and as I passed through all of the rolling hills, I began to picture Custer's last stand which ...

... that we went through was Mount Airy.. Where we saw a house suspended on steel I beams while a basement was being excavated below. Perfect name for that town.. All inventory was still in the station as if they had just walked ...

The trail goes through a large pasture that supposedly is home to a somewhat aggressive buffalo herd, so we were cautioned (on the map & by the ranger) to be extremely careful and stay far away from the buffalo. We figured that we've hiked in enough places with bison that it shouldn't be too big of a deal, but we were alert and watching out ...

... the hammock and had a fire by the water. It was our best find so far. And this morning we each got to take a shower (for the first time since Sunday) using the super solar powered shower! Which worked great. We were up by 7:30 to go for a walk and then breakfast and tear down and we're on our way to find a place to stay in Colorado! The weather is back to sunshine and 36 C ☺️ We also had neighbours last night - vultures! Which means we must be getting closer to the ...

The not so Great Western Inn

A travel blog entry by naterackers on May 26, 2014

I'm a fan of Priceline for hotel booking but it led us astray this time. If you ever find yourself in Junction City KS please stay away from the Great Western Inn. There is nothing great about it. I can live with decor out of the 1970s but I can't deal with dirt and scum from the 1970s. I don't have terribly high standards for hotels but this one was disgusting. The inside of ...
