We woke about 8.30 to another brilliantly fine warm day. The plan for the day was to walk to Sagrada Familia. Google maps showed it to be a 45 minute walk which would get us there in about the same time as the Hop On shop Off and we would see things we wouldn't by bus including the gardens and arc de triomf if we chose to go that way which we did. ... to bed to forget the worst day ever!! At about 1am I got a call from the original hostel who didn't get my email and had been waiting up all night for us! He wasn't happy and I explained the situation several times and eventually got off the phone. He doesn't think hostel bookers will take responsibility and will charge us anyway but my card is lost and cancelled so hopefully they can't charge it anyway! Worst travel day and not a good start in Barcelona! Hopefully tomorrow is ...

... bang flat - must have checked them with a level; the wifi works everywhere! The view over the Mediterranean is superb - we are on the fourth terrace up and have parked the van sideways - Bona vista - most definitely! An added bonus of course for me is my Spanish is as bad as his English, but hey, he speaks German!

Well, Joachim is a 77 year old with a zest for life and he was quite animated when we arrived! We must go to the Festival of ...
