... Our evenings in Montreal were full on with an ice hockey game between Montreal and Colorado a highlight. With Glen providing coaching we were able to understand the rules and were entertained with a local win ( 3 to 2 in overtime). Hotdogs and beer reigned. ... had a first course, the French would never consider sharing an appetizer so we each indulged, I in sausage and Steve in a goat cheese crisp, and then quietly swapped dishes to try it all. Next was the main courses of flank steak and sausage pudding, accompanied with roasted vegetables and potatoes au gratin, all presented by the Chef himself who did not know we were American and explained each dish in his native tongue. ... area is a little bit scary, lots of drunk people, homeless people and a park area with a very strong smell of marijuana. Despite appearances the area is relatively safe (or appears so) with lots of people walking through, visiting restaurants and enjoying the warmth of the late September heat wave. We found a Thai restaurant and had a quick dinner before heading back to the hostel to chill out.
