If you come to the Dominican I would suggest that you already have a "pre-ride" to the hotel set up. In fact, he recommended to his Spanish benefactor, Queen Isabella of Spain, that the natives of the new world would make good slaves. The Queen apparently didn't cotton, or should I say tobacco, to the idea and directed that he convert ...

... beloved wasn't meant to live on an island and we were both shaken.

It didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves (although the hummingbird-sized cockroach by our cottage door almost did), but reminded me that it's best to take it slow with a travel-newbie. One day we'll laugh about Dave puking in the turtle pond, thus giving the little snappers the buffet of a lifetime, but even now (March 2015) it's a sore subject. On our next adventure together, we'll be better prepared.
