I started the week in Geneva because of work. During my weekly Skype call with my parents, they mentioned my brother would be leaving for Paris the next morning. Nice of him to tell me! I called him but couldn't get a hold of him, so tried again in the morning. By the time I was awake on Monday, he was in bed for the night, but luckily he woke up and answered the phone. He told me he had a free day on Wednesday with no plans so this would be a good day for us to ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France travelingdiva... some gourmet candy we bought at a nearby shop.

Strasbourg, like other towns in Alsace, has a distinct, half-timber-style architecture that is very German looking – not surprising since this part of France has so often switched back and forth between the French and the Germans. It makes for some very scenic pedestrian lanes, cafés, and winstubs that I couldn’t stop taking photos of. We eventually found one we liked near the idyllic ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France leandroopThis place was incredible! There was just too much that I loved to talk about, but one thing that was really cool was a hotel that they have called "The Little Prince"...after the book and movie The Little Prince. My parents and I LOVED this book when I was little and we used to read it and watch the movie quite a bit. It's a pretty strange story but really neat. One the side of ...
Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany katerilalaine... sample the therapeutic waters..well Lauren did, she fell in the public fountain..alittle too enthusiastically reaching for a twig.

Then back to the caravan for pasta in a pan and of course Black Forest Gateaux...Frankfurt 5 star Hotel for Stu's birthday is on the cards next..hurrah!

One observation, Germans tend to decorate the gardens of their static caravans with gnomes and model deers, while the Italians opt for a yappy dog on a piece of string.
Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany sarahandstutour... farm house, sort of semi-bored, looking at how hard life was for the German farmer, I discovered life on the farm also involved Natzi's. When I climbed up to the second floor, I found the entire space was dedicated to the Natzi presence in Schwarzwalder. It was laid out like a museum. White walls with photographs of Natzi's and letters hanging on them ...
Schwarzwalder, Baden-Württemberg, Germany laters... France and walked a winding path to the Cathedral. Unfortunately it was closed for some reason so we only got to admire the exterior. We stopped for lunch at a delicious Alsatian restaurant, Au Dauphin. Here we experience the delicious local specialty, tarte flambée. It is similar in appearance to a pizza. The crust is lighter and thinner, and there is no tomato sauce or cheese, but instead a delicious cream. For toppings, the ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France travelingdivaWe caught the wrong train and wound up in Gengenbach. While we were waiting for a train back we met a lady who told us the town had a beautiful old-town section. So we went discovering again. After a good look around we stopped at a pub while we were waiting for the next train and got talking to the owner. Turns out he'd been to Australia on holiday, so we had a good time talking to him until it was time to go.
Gengenbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandroz... a walk along the river. It was about 2 miles one way. It was beautiful....babbling creeks, tree lined and mansions. We are sure that Nowak descendants reside in one of them. We found a rose garden that was probably beautiful yesterday. More pedals on the ground today than on the stems. We are now listening to what we think is our neighbor playing the violin..sounds wonderful and relaxing. Time is running out for the bath.....They sit side by side..Which one will we choose????????
Baden-Baden, Germany nancyjill... foot of the castle and walk all through it's 600 years of history for no fee and with no security. Granted, it is probably not a significant historical site -- most likely it was inhabited by your run-of-the-mill landed gentry, not royalty -- but it was still really cool. Although we would have preferred sunshine, the rain and mist did make for a nice effect as we peered from the castle towers across the Rhine River ...
