It's Wednesday morning at 7:30. I woke up a half and hour ago. Can't sleep anymore. Too much like Christmas! Our apartment has Beatles Rock band instruments all over from the rocking out that happened last night. G is still in bed. I can hear his alarm ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada graemeandsarahOnce we settled in after the first week, we began to explore the town more. The team showed us round the various attractions that we may be interested in. First they showed us the west edmonton mall. Mason and i, being used to shopping centres in England were amazed with the size of the place. To give an idea - it included a water park, bungee jump, shooting range, gyms, a theme park, roller coasters, sea lion shows etc. Aswell as this there were millions of shops ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada scottmoore67... and roller coasters; a Deep Sea Adventure area with a full size replica of the Santa Maria; Sea Lion Rock (where we watched a sea lion show); an 18 hole golf putting course; 10 pin bowling, and over 100 eateries, 13 movie theatres and over 600 stores. There was even a bison on display. Back at the hotel, where it was nice and warm, we watched the snow flurries from our window.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada souter... located right in town and we spent a relaxing afternoon walking to town and strolling along the lake. We had planned to stay 2 days and do some of the hikes the following day but the weather turned very cool with wind gusts of about 60-80 km/hr. So, instead of staying cooped up in our van, we decided to head north to check out the Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump Interpretive Centre. The Centre is located about 1.5 hours outside of Calgary. After a ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada kalsi_kaurIt's nice to be sitting here in the sunshine on a grand rock along the N. Sask River where Senica just swam in the fast brown current. We can see the business skyscrapers in the distance atop the forested banks of the river. It is so peaceful to separate ourselves from the Disney-World chaos of WEM (West Edmonton Mall) to find the historic natural setting that Edmonton was founded on. Although we can still hear the traffic along the bridges, we are the only souls around.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada lolly... lots of people were swimming. There was also a shipwreck thing in the middle of the mall. It was filled with water and there was a thing for dolphin and seal shows, not that there was one on while we were there. I also saw the ice rink and of course there were heaps of people skating on it or playing hockey. There was also a mini golf place and a line of restaurants that were designed to look like Europe ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada xx.rachel... It's had a facelift in recent years and there are lots of nice restaurants, shops and cafes with lovely heritage facades. We treated ourselves to a nice dinner and a drink before heading back to downtown. On Sunday we went for a walk along the river past the beautiful Parliament buildings and through their gardens - probably the most impressive thing about Edmonton. We crossed the long bridge across the river ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada sarzmc... compassion for its fellow Human, Rather then Greed and corruption, Seriously Does anyone really need 67 billion dollars? I used to think People can't change, Until i seen myself change, I guess Change can come to those who embrace it. I feel as though I've lived my whole life up until I began traveling With my eyes shut, When i look back At my views and understanding of the world as i knew it, i wonder how could I have been so blind. I was feed ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada senorbrian... with someone for hours without even knowing their name. It would be like some kind of other dimension, some bubble that would keep us in a state of stasis while we were connecting. They are those people who you meet that you are SURE you know, you are positive that you have met them before. Try as you might, you wrack your brain but there is no explanation of the intense feeling of ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada whereshegoes... the city centre and our hotel. We found our hotel and discovered a really nice pub across the road where we had a couple of drinks and dinner. We went for a really short walk then straight back to our room. The next day we went for a longer walk around the city. Edmonton didn't do a lot for us, it seemed to be just another big city. We headed for the nicest looking building we ...
