Leaving on a jet plane....

... there (Aug 7) it'll be 23 degrees with light rain. No biggie there as we're just stopping over and won't be leaving the airport. The only thing is that it might cause a slight delay on our flight out to Sweden but not a big deal.

In Sweden today, it's 24 degrees with a few clouds.... but it'll be 22 degrees when we get there on Aug 7. Sounds good to me!!! :) Alright, off to ...

A leisurely day in Edmonton

So this morning I kept it easy.  I stayed in the commons area in the morning and emailed and talked to friends.  I also sorted out where I was going to go in the afternoon.  I left the hostel, making sure I knew the address this time and headed to Panago Pizza, a place my hostel friend Wade said served $8 dollar pizzas.  Sure enough when I got there I got a pepperoni pie for $8 dollars.  I ate half of the medium at the store then took the ...

Summer Leaves Fall

... high twenties. Every sunrise and sunset this week, I have seen several hot air balloons floating through the sky. It is well known that unless conditions are perfect, those suckers don't fly. This is what we call an Indian Summer here in Edmonton and I am so grateful for it. I spent September preparing myself and bracing for this upcoming winter. I stocked up on warm fleeces, woolen toques, and have an entire cupboard jammed ...

It's another day and we are starting out from our BS chain hotel The Principe Felipe, on the outskirts of Granada. Not a bad hotel and the guy at the desk DID speak English, which was very helpful. If you are looking for mid range hotels I would recommend this ...

The Pan-Am Games

... We had done a few training sessions to supposedly prepare us for when the games started, but the 'training' proved to be really, really, inadequate. They taught us about things like 'the mission of the games', and the number of international press members expected, but we learned nothing that was truly useful, like 'where are the bathrooms' and 'how young do kids have to be to get free entry?' The first day was a complete mess, as thousands of people ...

Hunting my prey

... I felt calm and collected. I maintained myself for every posture and with focus, I passed. Even near the end I didn't want to jinx my luck. I kept being thankful that I was not feeling ill and that I could breath evenly. I wondered how much the coconut juice I downed before class had to do with it... I have to ask myself how I was able to get through this with such ease for the first month. Today I left my class with such an ...

Secrets out

... even had bar and food service at our seats by a waitress. I ate a ballpark frank, cracker jacks and drank beer while I watched the Toronto Blue Jays slaughter the home team 10 to a measly 3. I tried to keep my excitement to a minimum so as not to attract unwanted attention from these hardcore Boston fans. I will admit it wasn't easy. It was a baseball experience I will probably never be able to top. Grateful for growing.

Mid Summer-y

... that raspberries can be added to just about everything except eggs. I would be very surprised if I didn't have raspberry flavored blood by now. I have more or less gotten over my age old gripe with berry seeds. I still don't like them but I have learned to tolerate them as it is not easy to de-seed a raspberry. I am sure somehow it can be done but I don't think it is my calling in life to find out how. Today I am grateful for forging for food.
