    ... area, and adjacent forrest, called a hammock (hardwood trees surrounded by swamp or conifers).

    We saw turkeys, raccoons, more buffalo, a nilgai, and birds, with really good commentary on the Indians' use of resources and the ecology of the swamps.

    Then we had two shows - one of "critters" (ferret, snapping turtle, ant-eater (Tamandua) and a small alligator) then ...

    ... managed by the Seminole Indian Reservation. Did all the clothes washing in less than 1 and 1/2 hours, for $3.25; what a contrast to last year in Europe, both in time and cost.

    Almost had the park to ourselves. Cooked dinner on the Bar BQ plate provided. Steaming hot evening, real shorts weather now.

    Watched the DVD of Apollo 13 - means so much more after our visit ...

    The middle of Florida is a mystery to me. Setting aside the tourist mecca of Orlando with its infamous Disney World (which I have visited on more than a couple occasions), I find I know very little about the vast middle of Florida. It is here that Casey and I are camped - near Lake Okeechobee - smack dab in the middle of Southern Florida.

    ... marina and kip on Ellisa again in case we have to go early morning. Drinks in hand we receive an email to say loading has stalled as a large sun seeker has gone a ground and not made their loading slot as they are stuck on a sandbank! So still not sure when we will be on time for another drink - would not want to be that sun seekers captain ...
