Entered the Land Of Enchantment aka New Mexico

Took rte 10 west across TX seeing Mesas and several mountain ranges before entering New Mexico past El Paso and stopping at Deming.

How the Native Americans Lived 700 Years Ago!
We drove to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and hiked to the naturally-formed cliff caves where a group of 40-60 Native Americans lived from approximately 1270-1300 (tree trunks were used as supports, so with tree dating, archaeologists were able to pinpoint the time frame). They were hunters and gatherers, and it is believed they left after a long and severe drought. It was amazing to see their dwelling places within the cliff caves!

Day 57 - Deming, NM
... Museum of Space History to view their IMAX movie on the Hubble Telescope. Another domed IMAX theater and another extremely interesting movie on this great telescope. Space with its age and size is so hard for me to grasp and the story of this telescope just further boggled my mind! Our next stop (can only drive so much before we become zombies) was at the White Sands National Monument. Here rare gypsum sands form white dunes that rise up to 60 ...
Day number thirteen
... on a tiny five foot diameter one. Quite a sight
Also drove through many low-land areas of fruit, nut and vegetable farming. It looks so funny to see desert, then all of a sudden it is very green for miles. The Deming area has many wineries.

A Long Drive Across Texas
... Van Horn, we stop at a little place that looks promising. Lo and Behold, we have stopped in John Madden's favorite restaurant and there is tons of sports memorabilia in the place (even Huskies and Seahawks pennants). We are the only people in there at 3pm; nice to sit and relax for a minute and I have the best chili rellenos I have ever had!
