Ok I'm going to give this blog thingy me doo a go...... We had an early rise of 0430 am to head to the airport for Washington DC. Mixed feelings about leaving NYC, such a love hate relationship. 45 minute drive to JFK, the line for check in was huge so we opted for the outside check in even though the temp was freezing (btw anything under 24c is freezing to me). Already having to unpack & repack as we all did a lil too much ...
... but it was great to hear from him and now it was time to head out. We hit the festival, had a drink and then we came back home - there was not as much to do as we had hoped plus it was freezing. We managed to get home in time to watch firework from Alexandria being set off over to Potomac, from the balcony ... Very nice. Happy New Year to all of our friends and family back ...
... I wandered around the smithsonian campus. I looked at a mediocre landscape photography exhibit and was heading through a tunnel on my way out when I noticed there was a whole hallway full of photos. It was a summer photo contest for all of the smithsonian employees, researchers and interns. It was the coolest photo thing I've seen on the trip and I'm glad I didn't miss it. The guy I was supposed to stay with tonight never returned my phone call, voicemails, ...
... around 5 the next and around 7 the next. The traffic was the same no matter what time. The traffic was even jammed on the roads going into the city.
