A Whole New World

... in the park before it is open to all guests. We were pumped.

Approaching the hotel on the grounds was very strange. There was not a soul walking around the park. We took some pics to show that there is some quiet to be had there.
At the hotel we were pleased to discover that they had a room available so we could get into it, drop our bags, map out our route and go, go, go.<br ...

Paris - Day 2 - Eiffel Tower, Good Grub, & Cruise!

... non-stop. "Look Daddy! .... Oh, yes, I got it!" .... "Ella, look ... a bridge is coming." ... "ooooh, I better get it! Got it!" She is so precious to me. As we return to dock, the kids start loosing their minds. They are just like Janice and I when we get silly. They get CRAZY. Its like they are drunk and on speed at the same time. They are so stinking hilarious. I caught a little of it on video with Sam doing a Fulton-and-Marconi-esque Asher repeating thing that was ...

Paris was so historic, Bob was sitting along side me with a permentant grin on his face and Cass was soaking it all up he has now decided he wants to come back and back pack through Europe with friends after grad, ( this may also have something to do with the cider) , the comentary that went along for the ride had a great balance of history, (for Cass and Bob) entertainment (for Becky) and Gore (For Brady) and on it was on a bus for me! First Day Wasted in Paris

... they came back and we went out together. Unfortunately I was unable to go to the Musee Du Branly because they didn't get back in time >_< (it's across the street from our flat). Instead, we walked the short distance to the Eiffel Tower and I'll say, THAT THING IS AWESOME. It's huge! It's way bigger than I expected and just standing at its base was just such an awing experience. You really have to come to Paris to ...

what I've learnt about paris

... and Church of Sacred Heart. And subway has good signage. Bring a street map, a free subway map, and a few pages of guide book, you may never need to ask the local waitress who always know English. 2. It's hard to be a gourmet in Paris. What, you may ask, how is it possible to eat bad in Paris? Well, nearly impossible. But it's also nearly impossible to find that one outstanding place that will be immotalized in your memory. Paris has a ...

On top of Belleville

What a lovely change to leave the gray, frozen tundra of home to arrive at the beginning of a Parisian spring. Pansies dot parkways, trees are bursting with yellow-green buds and the sun, the glorious sun, has been out for three days in a row, with no sign of it abating. Parisians are walking around with their coats open, taking time to stroll or sit in a park appreciating the sun, all with smiles on their faces. We're back in Paris after only a few month's hiatus ...

It's getting better all the time

... everywhere. Gold is used tastefully, the streets are wide, and all the beautiful historic buildings have lots of statues. It's very cool. Today I went to Versailles and wandered in the huge and amazing gardens and forests. I need to see the Louvre, go to mass at Notre Dame, and take in a show at the Opera Garnier (that's the place where Phantom of the Opera is set, if you didn't know) before I leave for Spain in a couple days. Life is good in Paris!

No more teachers, no more books...for now

... confusion wih her reservation and would not be leaving for Paris until the next day! But so the trip began and a new motto was sprung: "I'm not gonna worrrrrry about it!" (that is said mafiosa style). After landing in Beavais we took a 2-hour shuttle bus into the city, just made check in time at our BEAUTIFUL hostel (if starbucks had a hotel this would be it!), ran around to ...

PPPPAAARRRRIIIISSSSS

... We also went to Monmartre, which was a quaint little city, but from up on that hill, talk about a sprawling city. Geez! And Sacre Cour (church @ Monmartre) was quite beautiful as well. Arc de Triomphe was huge! I didn't expect it to be quite that big, but it was quite massive :). I do apologize for the lack of making sense, this is more for speed and to be prepared to make a photo album :). I hope all is well on the home front :).

Typical tourists

... my fingertips, Ashley holding it up in her palms (requires a very different muscle set), us doing acrobatic leaps across the Champ-de-Mars. Quite the workout, from embarrassment if nothing else. Our photo shoot ended across the Seine at the fountains of Trocadero. Winter hibernation, we were probably three months too early to see them on. A night of laundry (sexy, no?) and packing for our flight to Italy the next day awaited us.
