... politics and culture, so he doesn't push the French on me. I have really learned a lot from them, and am so thankful for all that they have given me. I made them Chicken Wild Rice soup last Friday (and I listened to a Prairie Home Companion while I was cooking... felt like home). The soup turned out alright, kind of salty... of course my mom can do it better...

My friends got a hold of an American football, so we played ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineurope... eaten a cheese fondue, you’ve missed something but the best are in Switzerland because of the excellent and rich cheeses. The conversation turned to the best ingredients of a fondue. This dish is serious business in Switzerland, so opinions are strong about its preparation. People and regions have their preferences about the kinds of cheeses to use. A fondue is always a mix of at least two cheeses and sometimes more. Add some white wine, garlic, eau de ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... could see the lake off and on as we rode. We left the train at Versoix, and pulled the suitcase a few hundred meters to where the car was parked – the Vernauds used to live here and know where to park for free. Then we drove a few km north to the shopping center at Chavannes where we stopped for lunch.

We caught up on the news over lunch and then drove on to the little village of Trélex, above Nyon. The Vernauds have a traditional Swiss farmhouse, part of which they have ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... The reason is that, based upon my experience, they will NOT have any for you. I found myself sitting on a metal, fold-out chair, with nothing but a French TV (which was in the next room where the other patients were sitting) and French newspapers. This waiting room made the MD offices in the USA, with their 5 yr.-old Ladies Home Journal and Popular Mechanics magazines look appealing. And of course, there was a kid ...

Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France nedkFrom there we went to Geneva to meet up with Conor and Diane. Since we got there so early, Jon and I started touring the city and randomly ran into them, and Conor’s parents, at the UN building. So we toured the city with them, went to the biggest flee market selling all sorts of random sutff (mostly garbage). WE also ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sofenjonWe sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjonBonjour from Geneva, We arrived in Geneva yesterday and are staying at a camping ground which is situated right on the lake. Spent the day yesterday doing some running repairs on old Frank, figured it would be cheaper on the Swiss franc than euro or pound. Worked out really well, except language barrier, we thought alot of mechanics would speak English here but most speak French and only very little English, thanks to the ...
Geneva, Switzerland kimandmads... powerful thing and really can make such a difference. It was so difficult when everything was locked away inside and being left to grow. But now, it feels great. I love you Nicole. I always did. And I still do. So everyone, today is the 11 month anniversary of this unbelievable journey, and tomorrow is the beginning of the end. We train to Italy tomorrow and that is where we stay until we start our journey home. I am ...
