... I am 1/2 hr (by plane) away from Tunisia. He was originally from Tunisia. He said--Maybe one day I will go back. Not sure he will though:) It;s so beautiful where he is.
After enjoying our first French crepe, we drove to our next stop Calvi....but before getting there we stopped a bit on our way to Corte (another city in the mountains) and then enjoyed some sun on the beautiful beach - Algajola. See next entries

... Ajaccio was across the sea/beach. As it wasn't too late when we arrived, we had some time to stop by the beach and enjoy our first 1/2 day of vacation.

Later in the evening - although we have planned to go to centre ville later in the evening to have dinner and walk around, we were too exhausted and we went straight to bed...but... before we did that, I had to check the closest boulangerie for breakfast ...

... in 1482 and the imposing citadel still guards the harbour. It was an easy walk into old Ajaccio with its tiny streets and main shopping area just off the port marina.

We headed out to explore the waterfront and shops before going back to the ship for lunch. We then made our way back to the beach area for our first swim in the Mediterranean.

Had a wonderful week in Corsica - beautiful French Island in the middle of the Mediterranean - lots of beaches, mountains and little towns. The food and culture is much more Italian than French and pretty much no one spoke English. Went down South to Bonifacio first, then to Ajaccio which is the capital. Overall a very relaxing 5 ...

The natural harbour of Ajaccio is stunning! A beautiful protected bay it was such a peaceful sight from our ship.

We pulled away from our berth at about 4:30 this afternoon and silently glided our way out of the bay, headed for Genoa. We expect to arrive there very early in the morning. Many passengers will leave the ship then, having either just cruised for a week from Venice, or have sailed for two ...
