    ... off admiring the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains, marvelling at the weirdness of swimming in the Swiss alps........ they tell me it was freezing, but to be expected.
    Home again, up the 150 steps, mike in the kitchen, rest time, cards, drinks, dinner and bed.

    ... step out the hotel door into some real heat after a couple of months of really cold wet Adelaide winter. Time to slip, slop, slap...with the sunscreen!

    A big day today; It's Alpe d'Huez. It's 13.5km long and has 21 switchbacks. After yesterday's loosener upper I feel pretty good and also after last night's welcome dinner.

    A big breakfast as they do in Le Tour and then we take the bags to the bus and on the way. We travel to a few kms out of Bourg d'Oisans where the bikes are unloaded and we get changed into our lycra.
