... Great Ocean Road. Mountains coming out of the sea with endless ravines sporting terraced orchards and villages clinging on for dear life. Then we climbed and climbed. A convoy of 50 seater coaches somehow negotiating narrow , winding roads through smaller and smaller villages. Civilisation abruptly ends above the line of destruction of the 1987 eruption. We drove for another 45 minutes through a bizarre ...

Good Morning Vancouver So we are near the boot of Italy tonight. Out on the coast at a small sort of B & B called Borgo di Santa Barbara. It is a few Kms past Tropea and not like the one closely named the same in California. After dinner we went back to our room and discussed how we felt about disembarking in Tunis. We both ...

So today we should have been anchored in Taormina Bay tendering ashore to Giardini Naxos. Unfortunately yesterday, our only day at sea, the weather turned against us and we had torrential rain and thunderstorms. By evening we were sailing through sheet lightning for about an hour. And the pilot from Taormina had told the ship that they were expecting the seas next day to be ...

... This is more mountainous than I expected, but silly me, of course Mount Etna is here, but not to be seen due to clouds covering it. Obviously the photo is not one that we took. We were only in the town for a couple of hours but the highlight was the Greek amphitheatre. It is at the top of the town and the view from the top of the amphitheatre was spectacular. The main street was full of shops, and packed with people due to the cruise ship being in. I would like more time ...
