Paris to Geneva

... Ibis.

We ended up getting to the hotel at about 8 PM, so didn't have time to go back into town for dinner and to see the city. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. I had an awesome risotto, and many of the others got other fantastic looking pasta dishes and pizzas.

... and then decided that what we most wanted to do was to take the "teleferique" (gondola) to the top of the nearby mountain in France. Put those together and you have a picnic in an alpine meadow, on top of a mountain with a view of the French Alps and Mont Blanc. A "Super Non-Sucky" experience.

Delicious dinner at a nice restaurant with good reviews. Very early flight out of Geneva the next morning and home well before lunch. Guinevere was very happy to see ...

Figured out how to take a bus to the hotel, overpaid, arrived and finally got our room. Slight problem with our reservation - they had us down for 2 people only. Kids will have to sleep outside in the rain ;-) --- Went downtown and joined a festival... Walked around, ate drank, got wet, and enjoyed the fireworks... Everyone is beat... Off to ...

A visitor was here

... protect us from the thin rain! We found a spot view a view on the harbour and the 'jet d’eau’. We were just across the road from the park La Grange so we had a quick look there. It is supposed to be the nicest park in Geneva. The rose garden is indeed very nice, and some roses were still in bloom. The droplets on the petals made for great pictures (I regretted a bit leaving my big camera at home). On our way back, we stopped for a beer near the ...
