Our trip to Milano got a late start--not our fault. The high speed train, Frecciarossa, was delayed over an hour due to some political rumblings/rallies in Bologna.

We made it just on time to our lunch visit with Vera, our very first teacher of Italian, ...

Just like they say not to do in the movies.

Anyway, the first climbing course was fine. I ...

... we seem to be travelling through a valley with mountains on either side. We pass Lake Maggiore, mountains still in view, travelling south to Milan, weather is improving as we go South, we arrive at Milan station 11.37am. Train leaving Milan at 12.15pm so quick stop at toilets, that's 1Euro ($1.40 AUD), decided to grab a quick lunch at Burger King and use the toilet on the train for free! The train from Milan to Rome travels at 297kms per hour, ...

... experience. Bit of trivia- Napoleon crowned himself king of Italy inside this cathedral in 1805. Remarkably this building was not damaged from WWII bombings at all. The last stop of the tour was a viewing of the painting The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci painted from 1495-1498. Tickets for this are limited and they turn away as many people every day as they let in. The painting is not on a canvas it is actually painted on the end wall of the dining hall ...
