Leaving Las Vegas

So we had a crazy fun first week of our honeymoon adventure in Sin City. After a 15 hour flight, tired but excited we picked up our convertible Mustang and made our way to Las Vegas, enjoying some spectacular scenery along the way. We found Vegas to be as strange and wonderful as people had told us, it's a bit of sensory overload and a place where …

Running out of time to do everything, we decided to go separate ways today. The girls caught a shuttle from MGM to the small town of Primm about 40 miles from Vegas and almost at the Nevada / California border. They went there for the discount factory outlet and bought heaps of clothes. Mitch and I drove to Hoover Dam which is about 25 miles from …

So our trip changed pace and we went from the beautiful scenery of Bryce Canyon to the bright lights and crazy desert city that is Las Vegas.

We checked into Excalibur (the castle looking hotel and casino as it was $26 a night midweek) and went for a walk down The Strip. Mez has previously been to Las Vegas so as we walked down The Strip …

We woke up to a wet Las Vegas - still raining not heavy but consistent.

We decided to do an indoor walk between the Casinos and immediately offered the best deal on a show for the night. The pokes now do not accept coins and are push button affairs - no fun in that son not tempted. The three linked Casinos - Excalibur - Luxor - Mandalay …

Nice facility with great views of the Las Vegas strip. The room was very clean and comfortable; however, the hotel doesn't provide amenities like "wireless' internet nor refrigerators in the room. It was the length of a football field from the elevator to our room. Quit a workout. It was a nice casino and well accommodated with restaurants and shopping.

We just checked in last night, so we haven't done much yet. My first stay at Excalibur started off bumpy with the very long line to check in and the fact that their room key machine wasn't working. We had to find a manager to let us into our room and then someone had to stay there so we could get back in. Eventually the room keys were working, so that should not be an issue any longer. The only negative at all about the rooom is that there is no WIFI. Our ethernet cable doesn't work either, but I will speak to the hotel desk this morning about that. The room is exactly what I would expect for the price. It is clean, the shower is huge and has plenty of hot water, the beds have nice linens, and we have plenty of room for our many bags, suitcases, and giant cooler. The bathroom is plenty big and has a giant counter for plenty of toiletries. We will check out the pools and casino this morning.

Lots of the reviews don't rate this place but for the money and if you have kids I think it's great. Our room has been refurbished and the rest of the hotel has been updated since we last stayed and it was clean. The pool area is nice and the kids enjoyed the amusement area. I would stay here again

Hotel Room was satisfactory but having to cross the smoke-filled casino floor, to register or just returning from the strip, was disgusting. It smelled of years of stale smoke attempting to be masked by a rank coconut deodorizer. If you can afford it, stay at the Bellagio, Caesars, or The Venetian! They were unbelievable.

The place was great with the kids- but a bit hard to get to the pool. They opened the pools in sections- which seemed odd. Great price to stay here. Don't paly here though- the kids liked Circus Circus better and it was a cheaper way for them to get some toys- they always won.

    Excalibur Stay

    from

I booked a package and was supposed to stay at the San Remo in my (excellent deal) package, well they had been over booked because of several conventions going on all the same weekend, so we got switched to the Excalibur. We had an excellent stay. There was a fantastic veiw from our room of the strip. Across the street was MGM Grand and Tropicana, next to us on one side were The luxor and Mandalay Bay, the other side had New York, and a short tram ride or walk (we chose to walk) were many more of the famous casinos, one right after another. The only thing we ended up driving to was Freemont Street, at night. The staff was helpful, and there was an ironing board and iron in our room. We had a standard room, and it was clean, and well kept up. It was not 'luxurious', but it was also a standard room. We chose not to upgrade, because we were not planning on being in our room much anyway. There were about 200 people all trying to check-in at the same time, but they had signs all over to direct convention guests to a designated spot, it made it much less hectic and we didn't have to wait for our turn. Since the line for non-convention guests was only about 3 people long. We were in our room within minutes. I would stay here again.

    Think before you book

    from

I stayed in this hotel thinking that i will be close to all attractions on the strip. Well that was not the case. Anyway, how would you feel if you are spending 2 hrs stading in the queue just to check in. Rooms are okay, though no bath tubs at all. Iron was not available. Remember that if you are going with a kid, never go to these hotel where you cannot get warm milk. No one is ready to warm up the milk for you even you buy from them. would you believe that we faced this problem after we already got warm milk once, later the same shop inside this hotel says that it is against the poilcy? i wonder how come all of their employees are not aware about the policies. I guess i should have stayed at Circus Circus which later i decided to cancel and moved to this hotel. My next visit stay will be either at Bellagio or Circus Circus ( if i am going to travel with a kid).

    Fantastic

    from

We resently renewed our vows at the Excalibur and it was the best time we had.The service on the casino floor was pretty good the buffet is the best we have had.The entertainment for the children is far beyond compare. The wedding chapel people were very friendly and went out of their way to help us out. This is far one of the best hotels on the strip.

    El crappo

    from

I recently stayed in Excalibur. To start with; there was a line of about 30 people just to check in.When I made reservations, they, of course did not say that there was a way to check in without standing in line for a half hour.

    Loved staying at the castle.

    from

I have stayed at Excalibur so far twice and will be staying there again very soon. I have been there with my family and also have stay there with my sisters, sister-in-law and daughter. Love the Tourament of Kings and the convience to the MGM, New York New York and the Luxor. Love the casino, don't have a problem getting service if I need it. I have not had any problems checking in or out. Love the rooms.

When in Vegas, spend your Knights somewhere else

    from

We spent 4 nights here recently. Rooms are OK, could be cleaned a little better. The staff seems not too concerned with even basic customer service. We booked 2 mos. prior to our trip, and to our surprise, we realized that we had been billed the wrong amount for our room(their favor). We also found out that they had run the improper amount on not one, but two credit cards. We were charged two and a half the proper price. My wife was up every morning at 6 A.M. trying straighten this out between our bank back east(long distance charges and hotel telephone surcharges)and the front desk. After spending our first 4 days trying to correct this, it was finally rectified. Throughout the entire process, we were spoken to and treated as though we were children by the front desk staff.

    What a mess

    from

What is a hotel to do ?? My wife and I recently stayed at the Excalibur on a Wednesday night and everything went well. We left the area Thursday morning for business and

    Ok ... a little outdated...

    from

You get what you pay for... This hotel is a little outdated... Wouldn't be suprised if its one of the next to be torn down and rebuilt. It's not bad, but doesn't really compete w/the properties surrounding it. The pool is the nicest part, they do have a very large pool area, great for kids. This is a hotel to take the young ones too, they have a large game room, and not a very large casino. Also have puppet shows next to the buffet and is geared more towards children in my opinion. The rooms are outdated, and are in need of some new decor.

    No bad, reasonable price

    from

My daughter and I stayed at Excalibur and had a good time. The McDonalds on the hotel's lower level was really great, it worked out fine for breakfast if you don't want full service. We also went to the dinner show it was alot of fun. Some bad items: Only showeres no tubs. The air conditioning unit in our room was a little noisy. If you have to check out don't do it close to 11 a.m.! the lines are EXTREMELY long (we didn't) Good points: Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and reasonable. Rooms in the Tower away from the pool were quieter, no kids.

    Great place to stay

    from

We had a wonderful time in Vegas .We have three children that loved the pool with water slides and waterfalls. This is a great place to stay nice and clean and the housekeeping service is great. Will stay here again.
