Surviving the Pan African highway...
9:45am: Leaving Lagos after a huge breakfast (first time I've seen bacon, cheese and milk, proper milk anyway since leaving Europe!). In good spirits even though it had been bucketing down since 1am and still drizzling! The good spirits quickly faded, we're on the way to Benin city, ideally to by pass and stay in a " town before we go to Calabar. Distance 322km, expected arrival time 2pm. Travelling to Calabar
This journey has had so many hello goodbyes. I suppose this is the nature of the beast. I awoke to the call to prayer and read before breakfast. After breakfast I went for a wash in Okonfo's blessed stream. It was so refreshing. Okonfo and his children were already playing the drums and xylophone. They get such joy from music. It is heart warming to see.

Osogbo – Onitsha
Ein langer Tag im Truck. Wir fahren über Benin und schlagen unser Camp nahe Onitsha auf.
Auch wenn die Straßen nicht schlecht sind, was uns immer wieder aufhält sind die privat, quer über die Straße verlegten Stromkabel, die wir mit dem Besen (zur Belustigung der Dorfbewohner) über das Dach heben müssen, um dann im Schritttempo zu passieren.

My husband's beautiful family
... t be comfortable in. HA! That was the best place we've stayed since arriving in *****ia. My husband's family has a very warm and inviting home. I had a blast with all of his family and with how welcoming his mom and dad and sisters were.
