Staff at Sofitel were great... They arranged an early check in for us seeing that our flight was so early. We dropped the bags & headed for breakfast.
Afternoon tea, later in the day, at the Burj Al Arab was amazing. A completely exotic experience & Shelley & I loved it. To think we nearly did a camel ride instead!!

After 30 or so hours we made it to Dubai! The 2hr first flight we had was very turbulent and gave the illusion of imminent death. With much relief we landed in Auckland for a 5 hr wait to connect to Melbourne. We were very happy to secure emergency exit seats for the next lot of flights all the way to Dubai. ... destroyed our bike boxes. Will check the bikes when we get home. Don't know how they managed that, we had them taped up really secure. Even the boss at the oversized luggage section couldn't believe it and took photos of the boxes for further investigation. Greg has never had any problems on all the tours he has been on with his bikes. The next available flight is 4pm, joy, another 8 hours in an airport. At least with the ...
