... drink, skyped Ro and then started the shena****ns! Headed into Longhorns which is the place to be. Got in at about 2pm, got a ticket at the door for a meat pie and then found the crew. We had a massive area of tables and chairs which was a good steal! Got some vodka premixes from the beer bins and did the day hit off! Still didn't hear the hottest 100 but they played Once a jolly swagman, Khe Sanh (obviously!), John Farnham, the Australian Anthem and so many wicked ...

... Approx. 800 people attended the dinner and we were all sat on tables of 10. Each table came with one or two long term locals to act as providers of local information and someone to give you a bit more of a feel for the history of Whistler.

We were on a table with Peter Ackhurst, the widower of the lady after whom the welcome dinner is named. Peter was a nice guy and has lived in Whistler since 1970. He has seen A LOT of change! One interesting fact ...

... so some small stunted trees as well as shrubs. Saw some grouse on the way and what looked like very small squirrels, light orang/brown with distinct stripes on their backs. Very cute and quick! Have to go back on the Peak 2 Peak to get back down to Whistler village. It is a great deal - six big rides for one ticket - and a wonderful experience, probably the highlight so far.
