... next flight for us would be Monday!) Another night in Donetsk. When we found out the problem with the passport we took Marco and Katya to the giant play area at the “Big Mall”. Katya and Marco were pretty upset so this was a great distraction.

... more papers today and then had the rest of the day to have some fun. We went out for lunch and Katya had her first pizza and sushi! She loved both, which really surprised us! Katya and I shared one of those delicious, layered tortes for a special treat. I told her to enjoy it because I don’t know how to make them in Canada. We are very impressed with her willingness to try new food. We are also very impressed at how well behaved she is in a restaurant. We found ...

... along the water. Then we went shopping to the bazaar for a few remaining items to dress Katya. Marco is such a great little negotiator! All he has to do is look at the ladies with his innocence, ask to pay 50 hrevniy (Ukrainian dollars) instead of 60 and they just melt ... shaving off another 10 hrevniy... give him free candy!

... in. It is so great to see so many families walking around and enjoying the weather. There was another celebration at Lenin Park, with singers and dancers.

After our morning visit, we went exploring around the Orphanage to find the church that the children attended. We soon found this little, patriotic church, painted yellow and blue. We lit some candles and prayed that we would be able to come home soon.

... then Katya will be ours! We are not too concerned because no family member has ever visited her while she’s been in the Orphanage, so our chances are VERY good! In the meantime we are going to have some fun playing with her at the Orphanage and shopping for her “going away” cloths and shoes.

We want to thank all of you who have been sending us emails of support, they really brighten our days and keep us smiling!
