... you pay a tourist tax but that also entitles you to free public transport. We caught a trolley bus into the main part of town. On the way the bus got pulled over by the cops, that was a first. I think he got a warning because we were soon on our way. The town is really hilly and you need to take a train to go from one side to the other.
The next day we took a boat along the lake to ...

We finished another long day, from Champex, Switzerland. This is the northern most point on the TMB trail. About 3 hours into our hike, in the middle of a cow pasture high above the valley we encountered the Alp Bovine cafe! It was almost at the high point of our hike today. We had a sandwich and. Old drink there before continuing to Hotel De La Forclaz. The hike ...

... a bit of a character actually. At one stage she was portraying a rooster strutting around and saying that was like at the end of a love film. Okaaaay. Didn't really follow a lot of what she said but she certainly had a lot of personality. There's still a lot of salt crystalising on the rock in the mine. In places the salt even crystalises directly out of the air! There's also a wine cave where local wine producers can cellar their vintage so that it ...

Walked back to our hotel along the lakeshore then up the hill in what felt like 100% humidity. Very soggy travelers by the time we walked in the front door!

After having a rest and showers to cleanup we drove to a different part of Montreux to have dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant we'd read about in the region guide. A bit better organised than last night when we ended up in a cruddy food court. It's hard ...
