... a shame that they were dwarfed by a huge theatre! Chinese efficiency was exemplified by what we have tagged the IPCG or Impending Performance Commencement Gong. At 6:59 the theatre gong (a recording) sounded once to alert the audience and performers that the show was about to start. 10 seconds before we were due to walk on stage the gong sounded 5 times and on we marched. The interval was scheduled for 10 minutes - and 10 minutes it was. After 9 ...

When we got down there we found a couple from Brisbane who were part of the group doing a similar thing. The hotel did not take credit cards. The manager walked us a couple of buildings down to a bank to change some money, where I found that my card would work to get money from our account. David could not get any of his cards to work and so would need to exchange ...

... relatively fast and made our way out of the airport. There was the standard greeting from an array of "taxi" drivers, who eagerly want your business. One confirmed he had a meter so I was happy enough. We made our way across to the carpark and loaded our bags. Once we got in I asked for the third time about his meter at which point he asked for "300". Knowing we should be paying about "40" for our fare we hopped out ...
