A Hot Day to Samara
A hot day crossing rolling green pastures of the Russian Steppes brings us to
Samara – a day off tomorrow, and we are in a particularly comfortable hotel.
Today was all about a blend of gravel tracks and main roads with several stops
at road-side cafes for stamps from the time-keeping team, with a particularly
welcome surprise… today saw the little blue Renault 4 of ...
... next day we walked around Samara, went to a Blini place and had a real dinner by the Volga river side. The brewery was of course also visited and our 1,5l water bottle filled from the tap for 1,5€. In the mean time we had also found a nice hostel with private rooms for the second night.
All in all, Russia was a nice enough place but we were happy to hit the road again and finally get the hell out of dodge/Europe.

... of the way there was no trees just semi desert with just a little dry grass covering. A few sand dunes in one area, then further east we passed some dry salt pans before the country started to improve a little and we saw some small herds of cattle and one of sheep.
As we headed north up along the Volga towards Samara it was ultra hot, up to 40C and the air-con is not working in the car. More in the next episode.
