... 20 or better on just three shots or repeat the grade. Different times during the Cold War. We also passed over one of his swimming holes. We saw bunkers in the hillside that were used to store ammo and munitions in case of an attack on Albania. Now no longer used. At the top we walked over to a restaurant for lunch. We had a nice view of the city below us. The meal was "Greek" salad again, wood grilled eggplant & zuchnni, bread and grilled lamb, with fruit ...

... many artifacts from Illyrian and Ronan times which are very interesting. Finds are there from Durres, Ulpiana and Butrint that I have been to among other sites such as Apollonia. Very interesting. It also has links to the later Albanian fight against the Ottomans, including the battle of 1389 in Pristina mentioned in an earlier post. Still very interesting. Then it linked into the wars of the 20th century and the communist regime which did not interest me as much but ...

... to me to assume that all foreign expensive cars that we saw on the streets in Albania would be stolen; and by the looks of the Mafiaesk people that got out of them, this rumour was about the only one formed about this nation that seemed to be right on the money.

Also in the centre, and possibly the most photographed site in Tirana, was the amazing mosaic adorning the front of the National History Museum (did you hear that Balkans, a museum of history and culture). ...

... driver to reverse back up the hill we'd come down. It was a little nerve racking. Everyone kept saying how we were all going to get taken and we'd be the next taken 3 movie (a horror movie set in Albania if you don't know). We ended up reversing for about 20 minutes and the headquarters of the Albanian special service police let us go into their grounds and turn around. They told us straight away no photos ...
