... as overly nationalistic as some other Balkan guides. He should have been, though, since his name tag also said Curator. Usually a big museum is a great place to duck into for a few hours on a hot day, but the National Museum of Albania doesn’t have air conditioning. And it was a very hot day. The museum was actually very interesting covering most of Albanian history from prehistoric times through the Communist era, but nothing is in English.

... of Berat, Albania, at a lovely little campground called Caravan Camping Berat. Tourism is still relatively new to Albania, but Donna, the owner has carved out quite the little spot and niche for herself! The campground was absolutely lovely, and she was incredibly gracious and helpful. We ate at the small restaurant she has there, and sampled some local Albanian red wine.

Tomorrow, we head into Berat, the city of a 1000 Windows!

We went back through town to a Chinese restaurant called Shanghai, where I got a delicious eggplant dish and Darren got a spicy chicken dish. It was yummy! ... and with luggage surprisingly still present, we were again dropped at the "bus station" to navigate our way (in this particular case it was more like the middle of a large traffic circle)! Later we discovered that Albanian officials actually have refused to build any real bus stops, so they exist everywhere and nowhere in particular and at unmarked places making it very tough to find if you're not a local.
