Today Ruth and I took a canoe on the lake. We wanted to explore it more close to the coast. It was great fun apart from the burden on your shoulders. After an hour of paddling, our shoulders and forearms were worn out. We then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, followed by a last supper at home before moving on to ...

Been very busy last couple of days - just had time to catch up and I am a few days behind. Every single car had damage down the left hand side. We had decided that we would spend the afternoon relaxing in our garden, reading, eating, sunbathing. And did just that. Mike and Liz made an absolutely sensational spaghetti dish for dinner. Yum. No gelato today. Will have to have 2 ...

... The beautiful Roman arena is still used to host events (capacity 18,000) and was being set-up for an opera performance. This arena is smaller than the Coliseum in Rome, but was built 50 years earlier. We ventured to the Lomabardi Tower which is a sort of 14th century version of Trump Tower. (The Lombardy family needed a Phallic PR landmark to demonstrate their wealth and power - so they built a huge bell ...
