So yesterday my try-and-error attempt to walk with trekking poles, and on sloppy paths they really help. If I only had known. After about two hours it almost felt naturally to walk around with this sticks. But ...

        24th July 2013

We set off at 7.45 after a cup of tea! It was cooler this morning and just nice.

Our first lock was strange. There was a huge weir on the left and we could see the lock gates on the right BUT it had two green buoys more or less across the entrance PLUS there was a "no entry" sign AND a “go to the right arrow”. We were so intent on working it out we forgot to take a photo. There were no lights to help us either. ...
