... the wrong direction which necessitated a rather dodgy U-turn in the rapidly building rush hour traffic (at 15:00 you ask?) After this we were told to "Keep Left", yes but not in the left most lane so another lane change had to be made at the traffic lights which caused a little consternation to the driver in the next lane. Anyway, this done, we got back in one piece.
... We also learned to look round the site before choosing a pitch and negotiated/blagged a massive grassy family pitch for the cheap rate. (Sorry to all non caravanners, I'm putting the details in for Stuart & Sarah’s benefit!)
Also decided that we’d have a rest day on Sunday before visiting the Merc museum in Stuttgart on Monday. The German leaflet did state the opening days but as our German is non-existent, it took Bill (thanks) ...
... sundae. We strolled through the gardens and spent some time feeding the swans and ducks. A funicular took us to the top and we walked to Auerhahn restaurant, which offered great views of the town below. I had been waiting to have black forest cake in the Black Forest, but I decided to have goulash soup instead. I didn't miss out though, because Frank and Max both had the black forest cake, one with alcohol and one without. We caught the furnicular back down ...
... The annual Oechsle Festival was on, which is similar to Oktoberfest but with the focus on wine. So we had to stop for a sausage...or two. Then we caught a bus to a suburb nearby to meet Frank's cousin Elisabeth and her family, who own a lotto store. (We bought a ticket and doubled our money!) Then it was back on the bus to Studio Miko, the family business, a photography studio where Franz, Alexander, Michael (Franz's youngest son) and ...
We awoke to a table full of fresh chocolate croissants and plain croissants, chinois and baguettes. Coffee and hot chocolate was had in soup bowls! We said our goodbyes and Benjamin dropped us off at Montargis station. We were so sad to leave :( We arrived in Paris, took the metro to Gare de Lyon, and then caught the fast train to Karlsruhe.
