Day 8 - Tallinn, Estonia (a nice surprise)

... br>- The usually placid ocean was not quite as calm today, and the ship was noticeably moving around. It wasn't unmanageable, but slightly unsettling at times as it makes one feel dizzy and unbalanced.

- We were lucky with the weather again - the morning was lovely sunshine whilst we wandered the winding streets of Tallinn, and the rain didn't arrive until we were safely aboard our floating palace.

Estonia!

... hanging from a rope that stretched out in script to write a message of a person who was depressed and the doctor told him to go see the clown to cheer up and the patient said, "but I am the clown". Later, I had lunch back at a sidewalk café and read my book while watching the passers-by. I noticed a Japanese tourist taking a picture of a group of ladies sitting all in a row. I wondered why he was taking a photo of that particular group and notices all ten of the ...

More Baltics

You know, these two day trips kill me. Up early, run around places for two days, late night flight back to London, four hours sleep, and then work. As much as I say I've got to stop it, I know I won't, but every now and then, I take an extra day, and trust me, it's relaxing, and it is high time I had another one The Plan Fly to Tallinn, spend three days, fourth day fly back, and that will be the Baltic set of capitals out of the way. Day 1 ...

Tallinn, August 26, 2005 - Friday

... go out again. This time, to repeat no mistakes, with my rain coat on. For some reason I started in a completely opposite direction from the one I would otherwise go, i.e. away from the Old Town. So from my street I emerged onto Liivalaia street, one of those that exist in almost every larger city in the world, which means one that has nothing a tourist would go there for unless it's by chance or being lost. And even if you're a local, I'm afraid there's no reason to go there unless you ...

Tallinn, Monday

... we walked to an old Dominican church - St Peter & St Paul's, where there was supposed to be beautiful old cloisters as well as a museum - but they were closed from the end of August. We were looking for things we could do as part of our Tallinn card today. Next we went back to the Tallinn main square. This lovely (& huge) square had LOTS of tour groups as well as individual tourists. Even though prices were about double prices in cafes off the square, the view was worth a lot ...

Medieval ESTONIA!

... for the sunset, well it wasn't fully set yet, it was only 10:30! But the photo's are wonderful. I wish you all could've been here to see it with us. Ah, off to bed, for tomorrow we arrive in Russia! RUSSIA! How exciting! I didn't think I would be as excited about it as I am. And Carol and Bob got me on their Ensemble tour in the morning! For Free! And I was able to drop the other tour, without a penalty! Now that's what I call a GREAT EVENING!

First day of the adventures - leaving Tallinn

... After security check we had cider and waited for the plane. Plane ride was quick ('only' 3 hrs). After landind in London things got weird - there was first passport control after you left the plane near the doors of the terminal. It has never happend before. Had to show my passport again in the border and after getting our stuff we headed to the irish pub. Oh yeah ... good cider and really nice Seafood crock ...

Tallinn

22-May: Tallinn We arrived in Tallinn, Estonia at 10am. The ferry boat ride was nice. Both the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland were very calm. The main issue was the rain and the temperature. As you can see from some of the photos, Julia was bundled up like an Eskimo. Upon arriving in Tallinn, we were met by the owner of the B&B and he drove us to his house which was not far. The house is nothing fancy but very cozy and interesting. It is hard to ...

Aeg asjad pakkida
