... mineral water. Gross. How quickly one forgets. We did the same thing last time we were in Germany! Pepperoni is not pepperoni, but hat peppers. And water is not water, but sparkling mineral water. What we should have ordered was salami pizza, and stilles (quiet) water. Weird. Though I’m happy to say that there was no culture-shock this time, not like in Madrid last Europe trip. We had a nap after lunch, and went swimming at a nearby ...
Erding, Bavaria, Germany pentakus... trip was on unrestricted speed limit freeways. It was quite an experience to drive along the O-barn (sp??) at night with our van hitting speeds in excess of 170km/h. We had 3 drivers who took turns behind the wheel and the other 2 people in the front row stayed awake with the driver while the rest of the van slept. This worked well as the trip flew by and before we knew it we were in Munich and it was 6.30am. We parked the van in a ...
Munich, Germany tom_white_5588... against them. Missy pitched, and the only hits they got were bunts. We had a rally one inning, but a couple of errors killed us, and they scored two. The second game was a run rule... I think our German pitchers might have been a little intimidated. And they had me for a catcher because all of our real catchers were either hurt, tired or hung over. Marin-- I could have used you. On the other side of the city on Saturday, Ryan's team was playing ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany weltenbummlerYesterday after the sun had risen I set off to explore Nuremberg by daylight. It was very crowded with lots of tourists and locals, and there were lots of markets and street stalls selling fruit and hotdogs and things. First I went on a wild goose chase down a busy road outside the old town to find an agency that arranges car pooling because I thought it would be a cheaper way to get to Munich, but I couldn't find it so I went back to the old town. My first stop was at the big ...
Munich, Germany ynnobHi everyone from Munich, Germany!! We got up and left the hostel at 8am this morning. We stoped by the famous Sprugeli chocolate store and got some really good swiss chocolate!! Yum we have been munching on it all day and its so good!!! We got into Munich about 1:30 and found our hostel called Wombats right near the train station. The train ride was pretty through the german countryside. We moved into our room and headed out into town. It ...
Munich, Germany mccle015... an oxygen garden, quiet rooms and so forth. All of this is contained inside a huge glass pyramide that opens in the summertime. Here's an excerpt from their website: Just Be Yourself in Europe's biggest thermal spa Leave your burdens behind and be enchanted by South Seas flair - a short getaway - unforgettable and healthy! Erding, Germany schlossie... a footprint that may or may not belong to the devil in the front of the church! Other interesting parts of the Munich tour were: - "Dodgers' Allee": people would walk down here before and during WWII to avoid the square up ahead, where Hitler's soldiers would make them do the salute before they could pass. A minor form of rebellion, but significant given what resistance meant at that ...
Munich, Germany kristinb... note, there was a LOT of snow there. So much snow that it crunched under my feet, and coated my eyelashes. Beautiful. But cold. Very cold. Stomach still weird from falafel in Vienna. Taking it easy with the food. Going out to another beer hall tonight. Augustiner (hope that's how you spell it). Should be awesome. Don't know what I'm going to do for sleep, because I haven't had much of it lately... Oh well! :)
Dachau, Germany aparna92Renata's House, Munich Ricki: It's so cold here! Not in Renata's House, specifically, but Munich. I wish I wish I wish I had brought my big puffy blue/green jacket instead of stuffing it into my trunk in Cyprus, and I bet Alex is bemoaning the fact that her leather jacket, which I wouldn't let her bring on the Grand Tour, is suffering a similar fate. We are not totally unprepared for the cold ...
