... up. In the morning we assessed our options and elected to head back to Livorno. On the trip back we saw some really wild seas. The overnight rain had eroded the landscape and the run-off down the coastal gullies and drains was significant. The amount of silt / topsoil washed into the sea caused the usually azure blue water to turn a sad murky brown,.. for some 400 - 500 metres out to sea. As we travelled north, we saw numbers of people stopped on the side of the ...

Best intentions for an early start we're delayed by heavy rain this morning, but we made the first 50km before lunch in great time and had a big lunch outside the supermarket in Saint Michel de Maurienne. We then climbed Col du Telegraphe and the rain started again just as we arrived into camp in Valoire. Currently tucked in our tent, enjoying looking through the photos so far while the rain continues ...

... spread again), and instead opted for crepes. After that we went to check out the fort town up the hill. We then walked to the start of the Col de L'Izoard. where we waited for the Tour de France to arrive. During the 1.5 hours for the riders to get to our location, the sun came out, then it rained then it was cloudy. But that didn't deter any of the crowds, who lined the streets throughout the city to watch the race go past. ...
