What an experience that Alpe d'Huez stage was. We ended up camping up there for three nights before the race - but some people had been there as long as 4, 5 or even 7 days in advance!!! We took our chances, driving all the way to the top without any luck ... but on the way down we struck pay dirt! We found an awesome raised spot just over 5 km from the finish. You could not believe the amount of people that were already up there, and the race was still 3 days away ...

More information on this campsite can be found here. Beautifully located campsite with quite good facitlities at about 1500m altitude and one of the best views on the Lac Serre Poncon. Located very near the small Lac St.Apollinaire. Start of some great hikes right at the entrance of the campsite. The hikes are rather steep at the start.

Täällä on kovasti nettailtu viime päivät koira-asioita ja olemme nyt päätyneet Cavalier king charlesin spanieliin. Se ei ehkä ole ihan alppikoira tai jaksa kirmata meidän kanssamme tuolla päiviä mutta ehkä se on kuitenkin sivu seikka...Cavalier osoittautui luonneanalyyseissa kiltiksi, seuralliseksi, aktiiviseksi, nopeaoppivaiseksi, helppohoitoiseksi ja vielä kaupan päälle, haluttomaksi lähteä ulos kurjalla kelillä.
