Rest day at Allemont

A travel blog entry by eyork on Jul 29, 2015

We left our beloved botchy field, filled up with petrol and drove around the corner to Allemont. We hunted again for gas, or some way to make it work, but no luck. Again. Not very happy! Not only with the gas, but also troubles with the fridge and 12V powerpoints. Baguette for lunch, set up the van with electricity and went for a walk. Cold and rainy this afternoon, but still able to wander through the town of Allemont. A nice quiet rest day ...

We stopped for a banana and a rest, the continued on. We stopped at the summit of the Alpe d'huez for a coffee and shared a pizza. We sat outside in the sunshine - we ...

Besides the thousands of cyclists climbing the mountain there are hundreds of cars that have been parked on the side of the road for who knows how long. Of course since these fans have been here for many days they pass the time drinking their favorite beverages. Thankfully they are not driving right ...

Today we cycled to watch the TDF. We rode up the Alpe d'huez to Villay de Recards (4th corner), across a stunning road with awesome views of the road and town. Down an awesome decent into Allemont where we found a spot by the lake to watch the tour. We are our baguette the waited for the ...
