      ... signage at station and no directions on hotel web site. Hotel 4 Viale Masini modern and comfy for 64e. Room faced Main Street to west and was 28deg when I arrived. Reception said law made them turn off aircon on 15 Oct!! Fortunately could open window a bit. Lunch at tabac/bar next door- cheese salad with good bread.       ... all together. it looked delicious - I was looking forward to tasting it. The next step was to roll out the pasta - this was quite a specialised process - no just rolling from end to end and flipping the dough over. Even the rolling technique was quite specific. It took me a while to get the hang of it - and we used two different sized rolling pins - one was the width of the table. The tortelloni making process was great.       ... church complex at Piazza Santo Stefano - it is 4 churches - there were dark tunnels and courtyards. I found the cafe I had hoped to have breakfast at so stopped off for a coffee.       ... Pisa one gets! The smaller of the two towers leans 3.2 metres and the bigger one leans a far more modest 1.3m. We climbed up the taller one, called the Torre degli Asinelli, which is 98 metres high and has 490+ steps.       Tuesday 14 I left hotel earlyish this morning - took me three attempts to get the owners up so I could pay and organise a taxi. Giovanni doesn't know much English so was getting confused when I was asking about the taxi - I had to write down the train departure time and the time I wanted the taxi and he was ok with then. Then they were like a family farewelling me - took my bags to the pavement and stood with me until the cab came - then a big hug kissing each ...
