I love this place! It is a nice hotel, too, and in the basement there are several very comfortable dorms with super bathrooms, perfect! Very close to the railway station and the Stubnerkogelbahn that brings you all up the mountains. Very nice staff, nice restaurant with good tagesmenü. This hostel has no kitchen where one can cook, like I said, it is more a hotel. Still, I like it very much.

Hiking up the mountain is harder than I thought...

Ha, Bad Gastein! A little city, all up and down following the U-formed mountain, in the U one has a little waterfall. Lovely! This "bad" name says what it is: a city about water. Empress Sisi came here to follow water cures, and lots of hotels here offer thermal arrangements!

I arrived saturday evening, and sunday I went for a discovery …

... or just has the same name... The drive up it was pretty crazy, it was a little bendy road up the side of the mountain. It went past a waterfall which was mostly frozen over and was very impressive. We also took a gondola there to the top of the mountain from where we were practicing but we didn't ski down because it looked very steep! We have our rental stuff for another day so I think we are going up another slope tomorrow to give that a shot.

... on the slope! Well, not really, they were just flattening the snow I think but they were all in time and there was music so it looked funny. I took a video to add to this too.

There was some other cool stuff we wanted to do nearby. We drove to a castle and past an ice cave but they were both closed. It seems like a lot of things here close for winter which is a shame, there has been plenty to see anyway though and staying here has been very nice.
