Brasov, Romania dicooper10September 2, 2007 Baia Mare Then we drove almost without stopping to Baia Mare for lunch at Hotel Carpati, where we ate in a typical gazebo type structure that is very common in Romania. Art had bean and ham soup, and I had mushroom soup, tomatoes, and a big bowl of cherries which I couldn't finish. Food and setting were very nice. According to Rough ...
Baia Mare, Romania dueduedue... I got my kicks out of people attempting to speak romainian, andrew asking me how to say something in romainian or speaking to me/translating to me in romainia by mistake, andrew getting his butt kicked (literally the guys foot hit his butt) by this 75year old, and by sitting outside the farm gate, eating spits, watching the cows come home.... like cats...the leave for a hill and find their way home...and if the gates not open they just stand out there and eat grass and ...
Bucheresti, Romania dmm8... to witness to them. I am getting better about giving my testamony. Tomorrow we are going to a camp in the mountains where we will have between 20 and 50 kids. Each of the team members on the mission team will lead a day of the camp. It should be a good combination of fun games and message giving. Thanks for all your prayers. This will probably be the last travel log for awhile. In Him, Tom
Udverhaly, Romania tomchandler... out of SFO. We got there at 11PM, there time. It was hard to sleep that night. All our travel fatigue went away when we were reunited with the rest of our mission team in Uderverhay. We got up at a normal time to try and get transitioned to the time zone here. Thankfully today is just a rest day. Nothing was planned. Just wanted to let everyone no I made it ok. Thanks for all your prayers. I'll try and keep ...

When the Communist Regime collapsed in the revolution of 1989, the building sat empty for quite a while before the Marriott Hotel chain decided to purchase it. Only a little more sleep would make me happier than I am now (and I intend to get plenty of that in just a few minutes). I am eight hours ahead of Chicago time, and really feeling my lack of sleep! The airport transfer goes beautifully. It takes a long time due to heavy traffic, but it gives me the ...
Bucharest, Romania wareameye... least Katie knows for next time. We arrived in Bucherest mid afternoon and picked up Andre our guide for our driving tour. The highlight of the tour was the 2ns biggest building in the WORLD (only the Pentagon is bigger) which for all extents and purposes, bankrupted Romania. It was commissioned by the ex-communist leader of the time as his house and office buildings but he never got to see it finished. He was executed on December 24, 1989 after a 30 ...
Bucharest, Romania tokyo_cate... a big night in Bucharest the other night and ended up having our photo taken with some bride who had lost her newly acquired husband. I only just got a temporary host family a few days ago, who are really nice. Everything here is a little disorganised because although I was supposed to work at Georg Cosbuc school, I've just been moved to Spiru Haret because the last GAPper who worked at Cosbuc got in to a little trouble for sleeping with several of his (somewhat younger ...
