Young boys about 13-15 were hitting some sort of like rubber ball with a glove thing on their hand back and forth... It was almost like baseball, hot potato, ping pong, and racquetball all thrown together... I anyone has any clue what it is left me know ...
... with the famous ice cream shop.
Onto ferry and to camping ground lovely camp on the river.
Camps prices range from € 16 to € 19 some times you pay for shower €1 one place your shower lasted 8 mins now that is a challenge for someone like me that is the long shower queen
But no I couldnt last the 8 minutes.
Lots of bikes on tracks some loaded like us, others in full lycra training others just out amazing how ...
... had fillet pork large meals
Then home to watch the Chilean Brazil game what a nail biting game then skyped Nicola
She texted david said we were on so then he skype long chat then checked our skyoe and a video of Scarlett fraser jocelyn Pyper saying happy birthday and that they had tried to get us so got them another long chat.
So really an amazing fun ...
... to do a boat trip on the river Rhine. The boat trip would have been a complete waste of time (I couldn't hear the guide at all the man must have been whispering!) if it hadn't been a group of elderly pensioners! There were about 6-7 school friends doing a trip together and were so lovely and friendly. One of the guys spoke very good English, but I spoke to him in German. He and his friends gave me their own personal tour of Cologne, told me what I should visit ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Grand City Hotel Cologne
Great for a weekend
Stayed for two nights for a weekend away. Staff very good and helpful, room very good, breakfast very good, great location near the station, and short walk to the river although if you do leave the window open you may hear the station anouncements but it did not bother me. We got a good deal and enjoyed the stay would stay here again.
Just got back from 3 nights at the Euro Garden at the weekend.
Friendly staff, great location
I stayed at the Euro Garden for 3 nights in December. The room was modern, clean, with a good sized bathroom. All staff I encountered, from the receptionist, to the housekeeping staff, were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was great, full buffet included in the room price. Great location, right near the train station and underground, just 10 minutes from the Dom.
I would definately return to this hotel, it offered everything you could want for a stay in this beautiful city.
Friendly, close and comfortable
Booked online in the US, got a great rate and was very pleased with the hotel. I was in Cologne for 2 weekdays of business. A short walk out the back of the train station, right off a main street. The staf was very friendly as I tried to check in early (8:30 am). They offered to call me (and did) as soon as the room was ready (11:30). Since check in was at 3, I was pleased. Very nice breakfast with lots of service. Although my window faced out to main road, it was not that bad and I did not hear the trains at the station.
Situated behind the station this hotel is ideally placed if arriving from the airport by the S-Bahn.
All places of interest are within walking distance and the U-Bahn is practically on the doorstep.
Everything about the hotel is excellent although the presence of a large fan in the room suggests that in hot weather there may be a problem.
The immediate area is not particularly attractive but not far away is an interesting street called the Eigelstein.
Great Value and Location
I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and the end of July 2005. The hotel is situated in a quiet location just behind the main trainstation and about 5 mins walk from the Cathedral and main shopping area. Friendly staff and vwey clean rooms. The only reason is got 4 stars is that even though the weather was not especially hot, the room was very warm even with the windows open.
I recommend this hotel and will be staying here again for New Years Eve.
I have just come back from a five day stay at Euro Garden and found the hotel to be very good value for money. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The room was a decent size and clean and well maintained. Housekeeping was very good and requests for extra pillows and bathrobes were quickly organised by the housekeeping staff. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of food and was well maintained.
The hotel is a very short walk from the main HBF trainstation. It is on the quieter side of the station with the main Cathedral being on the other side. The only negative factor about the hotel is it is located down a small side street which can be quiet and a little secluded if walking home alone at night.
Overall an excellent hotel which I would visit again.
