Good morning Dad! So, today we woke up and had breakfast. Another friend was joining us so we went into Lara's room. We had bread rolls with spreads and sandwich fillings. Awesome. I love german bread, it's always so fresh and tasty. Even if the crust is hard, it's always soft on the inside. They're baguettes were better than the ones I had in France! I had cheese, tomatoes and cucumber. I had maybe 3 savoury rolls then had a sweet one. White chocolate with ...
... something more substantial but Anna wanted ice cream. We had that, I ordered snickers. Delicious! By then I was full. It was awesome. We continued walking around Bonn, looking at the pretty houses. Imagining which house we'd like to buy. Eventually we covered everything so we caught the train back home. We came home and everyone was still full. I don't know how, so we just talked till we were tired then slept. It was eventful ...
Good morning Lord! So this morning, we packed our bags and showered. Thank you Lord for toiletries and towels. I didn't have to use mine. I've run out pretty much anyways. Simon came down to get us and we went up to his place for breakfast. I ate the same stuff. I really enjoy the german spreads. It's very filing and tasty. It's like fleshspeil I'm not convinced that how it's actually spelt but it looks like that. Anna had ...
Guten morgan Vater! So, today we slept in till 11am. Nadzha was out cold. I floated in and out of conscience. While we were sleeping, a few people tried knocking on the door. I kept ignoring them, Simon had advised us to put a sign on the door to advise that we were sleeping. My understanding was, if a sign was there, then it meant we were sleeping. I guess not. So I went to open the blinds, when I saw Simon outside the backyard that was a surprise. He apparently was ...
... Aussies from Perth who were on the cruise. Wandered around some more but John's knee was playing up so decided to call it a day. John bought me a leather jacket that we had seen earlier then we bought some donuts and bread rolls and caught the train back. Back at the hotel we managed to connect to the Internet and learnt that Matthew had proposed to Rebecca in Zermatt. We are so happy for them. Dinner once again at the local ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Grand City Hotel Cologne
Great for a weekend
Stayed for two nights for a weekend away. Staff very good and helpful, room very good, breakfast very good, great location near the station, and short walk to the river although if you do leave the window open you may hear the station anouncements but it did not bother me. We got a good deal and enjoyed the stay would stay here again.
Just got back from 3 nights at the Euro Garden at the weekend.
Friendly staff, great location
I stayed at the Euro Garden for 3 nights in December. The room was modern, clean, with a good sized bathroom. All staff I encountered, from the receptionist, to the housekeeping staff, were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was great, full buffet included in the room price. Great location, right near the train station and underground, just 10 minutes from the Dom.
I would definately return to this hotel, it offered everything you could want for a stay in this beautiful city.
Friendly, close and comfortable
Booked online in the US, got a great rate and was very pleased with the hotel. I was in Cologne for 2 weekdays of business. A short walk out the back of the train station, right off a main street. The staf was very friendly as I tried to check in early (8:30 am). They offered to call me (and did) as soon as the room was ready (11:30). Since check in was at 3, I was pleased. Very nice breakfast with lots of service. Although my window faced out to main road, it was not that bad and I did not hear the trains at the station.
Situated behind the station this hotel is ideally placed if arriving from the airport by the S-Bahn.
All places of interest are within walking distance and the U-Bahn is practically on the doorstep.
Everything about the hotel is excellent although the presence of a large fan in the room suggests that in hot weather there may be a problem.
The immediate area is not particularly attractive but not far away is an interesting street called the Eigelstein.
Great Value and Location
I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and the end of July 2005. The hotel is situated in a quiet location just behind the main trainstation and about 5 mins walk from the Cathedral and main shopping area. Friendly staff and vwey clean rooms. The only reason is got 4 stars is that even though the weather was not especially hot, the room was very warm even with the windows open.
I recommend this hotel and will be staying here again for New Years Eve.
I have just come back from a five day stay at Euro Garden and found the hotel to be very good value for money. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The room was a decent size and clean and well maintained. Housekeeping was very good and requests for extra pillows and bathrobes were quickly organised by the housekeeping staff. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of food and was well maintained.
The hotel is a very short walk from the main HBF trainstation. It is on the quieter side of the station with the main Cathedral being on the other side. The only negative factor about the hotel is it is located down a small side street which can be quiet and a little secluded if walking home alone at night.
Overall an excellent hotel which I would visit again.
