... me and Finn remarking how many young Austrians smoke (you can still smoke in pubs in Austria - much to our dismay). I put it down to the cigarette vending machines on every street corner - the worst idea ever.
We returned to our room at midnight ready to mounr the bikes the next day after the longest time since we started without doing so!
All in all - a pretty good 25th.
... Some of these camps have been torn down, but some, like Mauthausen near Linz, have been preserved and made into a memorial and education center. Mauthausen was the first camp, built just outside of Linz. ... which makes it a very homely feel. By the end of the first night, he had also got to know all 30-odd of our names which we found brilliant. We all ended up having a few drinks after dinner, catching up on travelling stories, also with a lot of Kiwi/Aussie banter which made for a great atmosphere.
