Red Canyon on the Colorado National Monument just east of Independence overlook. Dodging the Cryptobiotic soil (grows a square inch every 100 years and basically holds the entire ecosystem together), we raced the sun to the precipice. ... will see pictures of deep ruts, narrow passages, rock that are worse than they appear, and a couple of several mud holes of which some were deep. One was deep enough to have steam rise of the engine of the Tracker, but true to being the miniature 4wd she was created to be she performed magnificently. ... Day 2- Ice lake- 7 miles hike- 3.5 hours of hiking
-Highlights- waterfalls, alpine tundra, wildflowers, glacier lakes, met a friend (Gregg) on the trail. We hit it off and I stopped by his campsite for a beer when I finished up the hike. We might meet up for a hike later next week!
