... I walked to Morton's to get better sandwiches than M&S or Tesco, and then popped in to Robert Dyas to buy fans for our rooms. There is a heat wave descending over Britain at the moment. Today temps reach 27 degrees Celsius (roughly 88F) and tomorrow they are supposed to reach 30C (roughly 95F), which is unheard of over here. Fans have become a hot commodity (haha, pun!) so we wanted to get ours now in case the town sold out like two years ago.

The surprise in what we saw was the detail and fine jewellery that had been created with relatively limited tools. As we wandered to try and find our way out of the exhibition, we browsed collections of early European porcelain, silver, rings and watches, together with paintings by Gainsborough, Turner and Constable.

... zoom around each other in what looked like a complicated dance that was entertaining in itself. There were several seating session and we were all eating the same 14 course tasting menu so diners were staggered as to which dish was being served at one time. This meant that the staff were creating wonderful theatrics all over the room while ensuring that everyone was looked after to the upmost and all while gliding effortlessly around one another. Brilliant to see.
