The Loire Valley
Post Paris, we spent a few nights of relaxation before our big rail trip began. We stayed in a log chalet in the Loire Valley near the town of Mezeray. The chalet was on Equestrian grounds and was run by a very nice French man named Benoit.

UPDATED: like the back of our hand
... in the sense they are a minority culture with their own local language lost under the "grand flag" of the French Republic. They're cool people, I think they were generally pretty friendly. Bee was also impressed by their crepes, which is the best in France. We tried some with our new friend and host, Emilie. Miam miam!

... renee followed several paces behind - there was a security guard at the front of the station but i made it out with the trolley, and we actually got a helluva lot accomplished while waiting for our host emilie to finish work: we did all our laundry, went to the mall, had ice cream at mcdonalds and ironed out our travelplans with their free wifi...all because we were mobile! see renee, no biggie!

A Legendary Forest
... The weather was looking dismal, but we had brought all the appropriate attire. We got into Paimpont at around 12:30 and only had until 6:30 when the last bus was scheduled to leave. We walked into the tourist office and asked the girl for a map and asked what we could see in about 6 hours. She asked "by car?" and we said "no by hiking" and then her eyes got big and said that it was impossible for us to really see anything by foot. My heart sank. Here's a tip: if you can't find ...
