Arrived at Ouistreham just before dark and found an Aire de Service right on the beach and this time it was free! The downside was it was right next to the ferry terminal and the 6am ferry to Portmouth the next day was kill the tranquilo the next morning. Kim's Maison du Scooby cooked up a storm. Pork fajitas on rice - delicious. I gave it 5 stars.

... Normandy D-Day part. The pre-war story was very interesting and then we strolled to the Nobel Peace Prize winners area (previously a German HQ bunker) and the American Garden - very serene. Light lunch at the Memorial cafeteria then back on the road to Manoir du Quesnay (fifteen minutes west of Bayeaux). ... off season. The streets were narrow as it was, so being packed with tourists made it pretty unbearable. We bought a few post cards, tried the specialty cookie of the town and booked it.
