Antwerp, Belgium

Day Three: I was going to go to Haarlem, Netherlands today and then travel down to Brussels, but at the last second and at the advice from the Canadian dude, I decided to go straight to Antwerp and I'm damn glad I did. It was a 2 hour, 20 euro train ride, and this city is amazing. When I got off the train, I simply went to a information office, picked up a map of the city, asked the hostels were, and took off. Unfortunately, all the hostels were full, so I was forced to stay in a budget hotel...

Throwing the Hand

We arrived in Antwerp after an hour and a half train ride through beautifulness. The train station was the prettiest train station I've ever seen. Now our goal...to find Josh. His phone wasn't working so we emailed him the night before to tell him what time our train got into the station so he could meet us. What a wait but we eventually found him and ate our first Belgian Waffle! So warm, so sweet, a little caramelized sugar on the outside...Heaven.

A little info on Antwerp. Antwerp ...

... UK!

Brussels airport is emptier than I have ever seen it in my life. There are no more than 10 flights for the rest of the day. Eric and I are alone in the airport lounge, save for a couple of elderly people and their miniature poodle, which is snacking on a croissant.

We are waiting for our flight - it is delayed by half an hour as I write this. That's just fine, in fact, it can be delayed until ...

... way about. We sat in one of the typical little Belgain bars, where I actually had a beer - Kriek lambic, but still a beer... Then we went and saw Menekin Pis - a fountain on a side street corner of a little naked boy just endlessly peeing... A few times a month, certain groups are allowed to dress him in special outfits, but he didn't have one when we were there.
Then it was high time for me to have a Belgian waffle! I chose one topped with banannas, whipped cram ...

Goofiest city of the year award

ahhhh, the city of Antwerp. What an interesting city. The city itself is very beautiful with a huge city center dominating cathedral and a castle along the river and a nice square just like every other city in Belgium. The great part about Antwerp is the crazy underground tram system and the super friendly people and the great food. We arrived in Antwerp and thought we would take the underground to the ...

... people's standard of living decreases. Workers that drive the economy get hacked off and leave the country. Of course the whole reason that the government sold off public transport and the utilities was to bring in investment and through taking a business approach to running things, improve performance. What somebody neglected to notice was that- - the investment does happen, but only when the operating company decides it I needed. This ...

However, the weightings of everything is very fair, with the largest weighting of a final exam being 30%. All my classes are very small, with a maximum of 20 students and a minimum of 8. The teachers are from all over the world and are extremely ...

... watching this documentary and a waste of money for whoever funded this guy. I think he was trying to make the statement that if man can climb the highest peak, it can also take down the tallest peak. It annoys me now just thinking about it. But all in all, it was a nice museum with lovely English gardens and really good, cheap food. So that was our last day in Holland. We were definitely ready to move on and see Francios and Brussels. We got the early train, arrived in Brussels and ...
